Stories
We all have stories. Stories about ourselves and those we hold dear. Tales of our exciting adventures and of humdrum Tuesday afternoons. Times when we learned, loved, and said goodbye.
Many of our stories we keep to ourselves, but the ones that we share with others can be a beautiful gift. For our tales can inspire, teach, and hug someone’s heart.
I love writing about stories from my life and I enjoy enhancing them with simple, colorfully painted illustrations. At the heart of my books are characters who show kindness, but I strive to include life lessons as well as a bit of silliness.
Thank you for taking an interest in my stories!
About me
I am a native of Austin, Texas – the land of Bluebonnets, big sky, and brisket. I gravitate towards more reserved activities like putting puzzles together, hiking, reading, and playing golf. However, as a wife and a mom to two wonderful boys, quiet and calm aren’t always in the day’s plan. I am an epidemiologist with an analytical mind, but I’ve always had a passion for creative writing and making art. So, for the past few years I have penned stories and coated paper in colorful paint. I’m excited about writing and illustrating children’s picture books!
A Worm in the Water
a children’s picture book
Claire is excited to catch her first fish, but she doesn’t want to hurt the bait – a particularly wiggly worm. Telling the little worm to “hold on” to the hook, she casts the fishing line into the lake.
She waits a moment.
The worm squiggles.
She waits one moment more before reeling in her line.
Claire casts again and again, each time without catching a fish. When she learns that she must keep the worm in the water longer, she hopes that her clever worm knows how to stay safe.
